We had over 40 entries
in the end from places as far flung as Iceland. South
Africa, California, Texas. Canada, Finland, Germany and
Israel and they ranged from simple remixes with a few
effects, to full blown reinterpretations with added drums/guitars/keys/
Tibetan Nose flute etc.
It was a tough one to call as there were some really interesting
and accomplished mixes (Stand up Noah Bonds for your amazing
funk mix) What a lot of you never spotted was that being
a simple demo the timing was all over the place and this
meant you really had to have your ears on to overdub stuff.
A lot of tries really fell apart on this and still many
attempts were again simple remixes of the song with some
whacky sound effects but there were a few attempts worthy
of note.
A special shout out goes
to Maggie Fette. Joel Varjassey, Alex Gee,
Henry Poulton, Kfir from Israel, Kay Burki, Goran Mrdja,
Gary from sunny ZA, Mihai Sorohan, Jim Smerk (hi Jim),
Dan Bronson, Noah Bonds, Luke Donovan, Ben Craig and Jamie
Harper for some interesting and accomplished
efforts.
But our outright winner
this time is Ron Mockridge
of sunny Devon who made a great job of fleshing
out the song with his musical interpretation but also
made a nice job of mixing in the original tracks. Good
sounds, good ideas and a nice mix. Ron is now the proud
owner of a brand spanking R1 active ribbon mic
Thanks go out to everyone
who took the time to send us a remix and don't be too
gutted if you didn't make the cut this time as we are
going to run another competition later in the year with
another really exciting prize!!!! So keep a look out for
details.....................

Hi John and John
Thought I'd have a crack at your track from my armchair!
Apart from the Norm.. Drums, Bass, Guitar, Organ, Keys
that I played into
the PC Cubase using DI's pre and guitar / bass V-amp (the
drums went onto to a 8 track D90 recorder first) all out
to mix on NS10's, so there are a few nigglies but what
the heck, I'd just keep fiddling now!!!
Hope you like it!
Regards
Ron
